Chamber soon will unveil new county business directory

We are putting the finishing touches on a new, comprehensive county business directory. One version of it will live on the Chamber website.

The online directory will be searchable. You will be able to generate lists of businesses by name, business type, zip code. Each listing will contain physical address, mailing address, name of principal contact, web address, email address, telephone number.

The online directory will include listings only for Chamber members and government offices. Thus, the only way to be listed is to become a Chamber member. You can do that by filling out and submitting a pledge form on the "Join the Chamber" tab on the top of the home page. You then will be sent an invoice for dues. Anyone who joins now will be paying dues for our fiscal year 2016, which starts Sept. 1. But you will immediately be listed in the directory.

The full directory also will be available for purchase. It will come as an Excel spreadsheet that you can use to create mailing labels or email lists, for example, and do those things by zip code or business type. The spreadsheet will be low cost to Chamber members, more expensive to non-members. We will make at least one update to the spreadsheet each year.

We are making a few final tweaks to the directory. In a few days, we will put it on the Chamber website where everyone can see it. And we will ask all county businesses to check their listing and let us know if:

1.The listing is correct or needs additions, deletions, corrections.
2. For all listings, whether  you would like to add a clickable logo to the listing that would take people directly to  your website, plus a few words of narrative that would better explain the nature of your business. These premium additions will come at a small annual charge.
3. For businesses that are not Chamber members, whether they wish to join so their business information can be included in the online version of the directory. Those who wish to join will be sent instructions on how to do that.

After two weeks, we will take the comprehensive directory offline and replace it with a directory that includes just Chamber members and government offices.
